Privacy Policy
COMC Viewer is an independent browser extension published by BuiltFor, LLC. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by COMC.
COMC Viewer does not collect, sell or share your browsing data. The only outside service it talks to is our own server, which checks whether ads have been removed, starts the optional one-time purchase that removes them, looks up graded eBay listings for the card you are viewing and, if configured, provides a list of ads. Payments themselves happen on Stripe's checkout page.
What happens on COMC
The extension reads card pages on comc.com only to display their scans and listings in its viewer. The one exception is the name of the card you are viewing, sent to our server to find graded eBay listings, as described below. It does not record or transmit page content, browsing history, searches or account details.
Analytics and tracking
None. No trackers, telemetry or third-party scripts.
Ads
Unless you have paid to remove them, the viewer shows ads: graded eBay listings for the card you are viewing, and otherwise our own ads. Our own ads are not targeted: every user gets the same list, downloaded without cookies and without sending anything about you or your browsing. COMC Viewer itself records nothing about whether you saw or clicked an ad. Clicking one opens the advertiser's site, under its own privacy policy. Paying removes all of them, and the viewer then fetches none.
eBay listings
Only if you have not paid to remove ads. When you open the viewer, the card's name — year, set, number and player, read from the card's image address — is sent to our own server, which asks eBay for graded copies of that card and of others from its set, and returns up to twenty to display. Nothing else is sent: no cookies, no identifiers, nothing about you or your browsing, and our server stores nothing. The listing photos load from eBay's image server. Clicking a listing or a search link takes you to eBay. These may be eBay Partner Network affiliate links, which earn COMC Viewer a commission on purchases you make and tell eBay the visit came from COMC Viewer; the viewer says so when they are.
Stored on your device
- An install id — a random identifier made by the extension, naming this
browser profile and nothing about you — in
chrome.storage.sync, so in Chrome it follows your Chrome profile (in Safari it stays in that browser). - A small license record — whether you have paid, your license key if you have one, and
when that was last checked — in
chrome.storage.local. - The most recently downloaded list of ads, in
chrome.storage.local.
Sent to our server
The install id, or your license key, when the extension checks whether ads have been removed — at most every 12 hours, or every 7 days once you have paid, plus when you open the extension's popup or have just started a purchase. Nothing else: no cookies, no browsing data, no email address.
Payments
Payments are made on Stripe's own checkout page. Your card details and email are entered there, never in the extension, and our server never receives your card details. Stripe records the purchase together with the install id and the license key, which is how the extension recognises it later; our server stores nothing itself. Sales tax is calculated by Stripe from the billing address you enter. See the Terms of Sale for refunds.
Permissions
The extension requests storage (for the records above) and runs on comc.com
pages to provide the viewer. It requests no access to any other site.
Third parties
Stripe (payment processing, and the record of purchases), Vercel (hosts our server) and eBay (listing photos, and the pages its links open), each under its own privacy policy.
